Well, Joe, while it's pretty extinct right now, as near in the past as 2 years ago, a number of SEs, such as AltaVista, would ban a website for oversubmitting. Soon, this practice was stopped due to competition issues that you mentioned.

At the moment, submitting to a search engine more than once will just MOVE your site down the waiting list - in other words, the more you resubmit, the longer it will take before your site is indexed. So over-submitting is still not a good idea. In addition, submitting a lot of sites from the same IP will sometimes get it banned for a while from using the SE.

I really hate to say it but there is NO such thing as over submitting a website. I will say it again there is NO such thing as over submitting a website.

This is a common myth started by high prices SEO companies years back to scare website owners into using their service.

You will never get banned for over submitting your website....think about it if this was true you could simply get all your competition by "over submitting" their websites. The search engines that count are much smarter than this.

I'm loving the community written SEO book idea. I also think it's cool that the book is being written by seopartner.com and each tip credited directly to the submitter instead of the site owner or web-master being credited as the author.

I've always wanted to write an SEO book but I am not really a writer and I don't have enough material on my own. I just wanted to thank you guys for setting this up so people like me can be contributing authors of an SEO book. I can already see this helping me close more deals by giving me an edge over the competition. Thanks!
