real estate web optimization

Why Realtors Need SEO More Than Ever

The days of people relying primarily upon classified real estate ads to find their new home are behind us. Even those great full-color real estate listing freebie magazines only impact a relatively small audience. Don’t get me wrong – these classifieds and booklets are great, but today people are looking for more.

Today’s movers and shakers (a.k.a./ home buyers) are used to instant gratification. They want to know about a house the minute it’s listed, not a day, week or month later. They want lots of pretty pictures to tell them a story and plenty of detailed information available – even if they only glance at it.

The Web gives them exactly what they want – no questions asked. They can search for their new home while at the office, the local coffee bar or even on the commuter train with their wireless PDA (Palm, Blackberry, etc.). According to Realtor.com…

* Homebuyers used the Internet more than other media to search for homes; Internet usage for searching was 71%, which is more then used newspapers (41%), home book or magazines (24%), Television (17%). (NAR Profile of Home Buyers and Sellers 2003)

* Homebuyers who search for homes online are more likely than other buyers to use a real estate professional to buy their home. (NAR Profile of Home Buyers and Sellers 2003)

* Homebuyers, who found an agent online, were more satisfied with their agents than traditional buyers in all aspects of the home buying process. (CAR Internet Versus Traditional Buyers Study 2003)

Consider what being in the top 10 matches of a bigname search engine like Google, Yahoo! or MSN can bring. How about the top 5 matches? Does this sound impossible? It’s more attainable than you might think!

Realtors Experience Déjà Vu with a New Technology Twist

2003 through 2005 were banner years for real estate sales. Record low interest rates combined with moderate to strong job markets created a supply/demand balance resulting in the fair market value of homes nearly doubling in many regions across the United States. Add to this the exceptional number of active Realtors and you have got a story reminiscent of the mid 1980’s. But two decades later, there is a new twist in the form of websites that help newly licensed agents outsell 10-year veteran brokers.

Based on information gleaned from top industry associations it appears one thing will remain consistent regardless of market conditions: Those Realtors with the greatest Internet visibility will be in the best position to prosper. For example…

With over half of all Web traffic coming from search engines the problem becomes the solution – at least for those with the money to hire search engine optimization (SEO) consultants. Unfortunately this can be an expensive undertaking and finding SEO experts who specialize in real estate Web optimization is a rarity. It was for this reason ‘SEO Answer Book; Special Edition – Website Optimization for Real Estate Professionals’ was created.

Researched and written as a joint effort between real estate professionals and SEO experts with minimum five years specializing in real estate web optimization, SEO Answer Book; Special Edition tackles scores of challenging issues facing real estate Website owners everyday, such as…

* How to get the fastest results without compromise

* Why most people fail at SEO and how to avoid these pitfalls

* How to quickly find the best SEO strategy for any Website

With hardcover and soft cover editions available in bookstores beginning February 2006, advance copies of this 162-page soft cover edition ($19.99) are available now on Amazon.com and at the publisher’s expedited order site; www.SEOAnswerBook.com. To facilitate the need for fast delivery, SEO Answer Book offers five shipping methods and is available for immediate download as a limited edition electronic book ($12.21). seo tips that work everytime!

Filed under: seo tips, proven seo tips — admin @ 6:56 pm

SEO Tips | Try these 6 great SEO tips today

· Use both the ALT and the TITLE attributes of your images - they are given about the same weight by search engines. However, note that different browsers treat them differently.

· Don’t forget that every HTML element can be stylized by CSS. The H1 tag is given big importance by search engine spiders, but you might not like its default look. Just apply some stylization, and it can even be masked as normal inline text.

· While optimizing the HTML code of your pages is an important aspect of SEO, it is not the only one. Even if your pages are in their best shape, all the effort is for naught if the search engine spiders don’t reach you. After initial optimization, take a minute to submit the site to a few directories or engines.

· Remember that your site is visited not only by search engine robots, but by humans as well. Try to keep balance between user-friendliness and keyword optimization, if you plan on converting your visitors to paying customers.

· Having your site ranked well on the results page doesn’t mean that it always will be. Your competition isn’t sleeping, and your site’s position is constantly being targeted by dozens of other sites. Be sure to make regular updates, and optimize any new pages you add.

· Avoid using one-word keywords, as they are too general to bring real customers to your site. When a serious surfer types a search query, it will often consist of a product name, or a specific type of merchandise. For example, if your site deals in beds, consider optimizing some of your pages for "cheap adjustable beds," or "metal bunk beds" for example.

two new seo tools!

Filed under: cool tools — admin @ 2:53 pm

SEO partner is pleased to bring you two new great SEO tools this week!

First we have the Spider Viewer. This little beauty shows you exactly what search engines see when looking at your site. And believe me – you’ll be surprised seeing your site through the eyes of a search engine.

Second we have the Word Density Analyzer. This will automatically report the density of every potential keyword on any page for your sites or your competitors! What you do with that information is up to you. But I’m thinking topping Google, Yahoo and MSN might be a nice start.

clean code rises to the top

Filed under: seo tips, insider seo tips — admin @ 8:30 pm

It’s looking like some of the more advanced search engines, such as MSN, are giving greater preference to sites with “clean” back-end Web code. If you are not a Web developer this might not make a lot of sense but HTML and other scripting/markup languages can be written a bunch of different ways to give the same visual appearance on the viewable page itself. Unfortunately, many WYSIWYG editors (what you see is what you get) add a bunch of unnecessary and often messy code to the back-end of your Web pages. Aside from often placing the important META tags in a less than optimal place, these editors sometimes add extra tags and do not follow the W3C (Worldwide Web Consortium) standards, such as HTML formatting guidelines.

Here’s what one of the first purchasers of SEO Answer Book had to say in his review posting:

five star rating (see it here)

The SEO Answer Book is the answer to a website owner’s prayers

Wow! This book is amazing but the title does not say enough. They should have called it “Everything You Need to Succeed on the Web!” It’s broken down into three sections – Business Owners, Webmasters and SEO Specialists so you can read just the parts you need or start from the beginning and get it all in one neat package. The writers obviously had reader convenience at the top of their list along with killer content. Someone quoted on the back cover says “Buy this book before your competition does”. I think that’s good advice.
