spiders can’t click buttons

Filed under: seo tips, proven seo tips — admin @ 2:06 am

Search Engine spiders don’t click buttons, so if you are using them as links, be sure to provide an alternative for the bots to reach your pages. JavaScript isn’t good for your links either. This especially concerns navigation lists, menus, and such. However, it is completely normal to use it for image rollovers in your navbar.

  1. Simple HTML links work best since all search engine spiders can follow them without hesitation. I also try to avoid Java whenever possible for links that HAVE TO work for spiders.

If you need the link to look a certain way, your best bet is to do it in HTML and reference a CSS that formats it how you want it to appear.

  2. I agree with this wholeheartedly.

While CSS is a good alternative, there’re things that just don’t work without a bit of SE-unfriendly scripting. If this’s the case, it’s best to make a site map page with text links, or a small alternative menu at the bottom of the pages.
