You can only say your website copy is effective if it has the ability to persuade people to take up your call to action. Try these top psychological hooks that can help your business receive the response you’re looking for.
1. Disrupt the though process of your reader, and offer a new perspective.
Example: Instead of simply saying, “$3 for 8 pieces,” try: “Just 300 pennies for 8 pieces… what a bargain!”
2. Use reverse psychology.
Example: “It’s time to make more profit in your business. But are you ready?
3. Bank on the fear of missing out.
Example: “Buy NOW, only 2 items left.”
4. Highlight the behavior you want them to exhibit.
Emphasize desirable behavior in your message and don’t mention negative behaviors (because just validates it).
5. Assign good traits to your audience.
Give your visitor a label, such as “Dear Startup Founder Looking Profitable Ideas,” or “You have what it takes to be a winner.”
6. Use a sticky story.
The most memorable plots are The Connection Plot, The Challenge Plot and The Creativity Plot.
7. Share a secret.
Example: “When you become a member, you get to know the 10 secrets of the most successful business owners.”
8. Make them follow the leader.
Signal yourself or your business as an authority, and show social proof that many people are following you. This is the Authority Effect combined with Herd Mentality.
