Facebook allows millions of people to post whatever they have in mind. Users are free to rave or rant about something on this site. The types of posts users can share on this social network are simply endless.
Business owners though will need to be a bit pickier with the types of posts they can share on Facebook. In general, companies can use Facebook to their great advantage if they regularly share these 5 types of posts:
1. Company-related content – Face it: your main goal of starting and maintaining a Facebook page is to share all business-related content. As such, regularly (but never always, to avoid oversaturating your followers) share links to company videos, blog posts, infographics, and even photos showcasing your products and services, the benefits they offer, tips for getting the most of your offers, etc.
2. Updates – Use your Facebook page to post occasional updates about important things such as changes in your office address, new products and services that you are offering, and business non-operations due to holidays, among others. By sharing key updates, you quickly, easily, and effectively keep your customer informed about what is going on with your company in real time.
3. Content from other people or sites – Even if you want your Facebook page to showcase your company, you have to avoid being too “promotional”. If you make the mistake of sharing only promotional posts, your followers will start finding your page boring, selfish, and too “salesy.” A good example of content from other sources you can share is a blog post from an industry website that can educate your readers about properly using your product. You can also consider posting content from your actual customers or clients. Encourage them to share photos or videos of them using your products and share these on your page.
4. Funny posts – Everyone needs a good laugh or two today. As such, regularly post jokes, funny memes, and hilarious videos. This is a good strategy to lighten things up and to encourage shares and visits to your page. However, make sure your funny posts are PG-rated and as much as possible, relate the humour to your industry and your target audience.
5. Personal posts – Lastly, although you have to maintain a professional aura when sharing something on Facebook, keep in mind that people still want to see or read posts that show off your “personal” side. When you share posts with a more personal touch, you help make your company feel a bit more personable. Your customers or clients will also start seeing you more a team working for an amazing company instead of a faceless business that is only concerned about making sales or profits. Examples of this type of post include photos of a team building activity or congratulating an employee for his or her work anniversary.
