There have been a lot of buzz about Google’s new machine learning algorithm. The news was from an interview with Greg Corrado, a senior research scientist at Google. In this interview, Greg mentioned that a large number of queries have been handled by an AI system called RankBrain.
Getting to Know RankBrain
RankBrain is an artificial intelligence system developed by Google. It helps process search results.
How it Works
It embeds large amounts of written language into mathematical entities and into a format that a computer can understand.
If RankBrain encounters a word or phrase it isn’t familiar with, it can ‘guess’ what words or phrases which might have a similar meaning then filters the results accordingly.
What is it for?
RankBrain is used for handling unique questions that have never been submitted to Google before. 15% of searches are new searches. It is needed to cope up with the demand of users.
