Last week, Google announced two more changes coming to Google mobile search results – Breadcrumbs format and using site name instead of domain name.
- Mobile search results will now show a breadcrumbs-like format of the URL structure
- Using Schema.org structured data, you can control your displayed breadcrumb URLs and site name
- Without structured URL data, Google will display whatever structure it feels best represents the way that page fits in your site
- Directories leading to your page should communicate a clear idea of what your page is about
- It is a recommended SEO best practice to keep pages within a few clicks from the home page (3 to 5 clicks deep)
- Breadcrumb navigation help search engines understand your site structure
- Structured URLs shows real-world name of the site instead of the domain name ex. “Google” > about > company > history
- Increase mobile click through rate by shortened breadcrumb URL format with your business name
