Executive Editor of Search Engine Journal, Kelsey Jones, on a 40-minute presentation covered the effects and advantages of nostalgia marketing. Kelsey also included how to make nostalgia marketing work for your brand, and here are her suggestions:
- Consider the ages of your target market and pull marketing/content ideas from when they were between 6 and 16 years old.
- Showcase your brand’s own history using the marketing/content idea you developed.
- Do it in moderation to avoid being seen as too cheesy or trying too hard.
- Make sure to use it to create a better connection with your audience.
- Perform a thorough research – was there any issue with the product you wish to use? was it recalled for massive safety issues? Be sure to be thorough in doing your research as this may backfire and end up coming across as ignorant or insincere to your audience.
