What’s Hot
Now Happening: Penguin Recoveries
About two weeks ago, Google rolled out a Penguin update – the last of its kind since Penguin is now a core component of their ranking algorithm.
With the Penguin filter now running in real time, here’s what went down so far:
– Penguin recoveries have been underway, and will be finished within the next few days.
– You should start to see some improvement if you have been penalized by Penguin in the past, and have taken the necessary steps to recover.
– Removing a penalty only devalues the bad links pointing to the site; it won’t automatically boost your site back up in the rankings.

Google Launches One-Stop Blog
The search giant has merged all their 19 blogs into one official blogsite called “The Keyword” at https://blog.google.
Previously, Google maintains 19 blogs, each focusing on a specific product (AdWords, Google Maps, etc.). With this move, there is no more need to hop from one blog to another since all releases about Google, from big news of the week to fun updates, will now be accessed from a central source.
As for the blog name, here’s what they have to say:
Google My Business API Version 3.1: New Features
Google My Business API is now up to version 3.1 and sports a number of new features. The programming interface allows developers to manage account and location data on Google My Business, which enables businesses, organizations and brands to manage their online presence with the search engine giant.
The upgrade introduces the following additions:
– Notifications. You can subscribe to receive push notifications whenever a new review is written for a location.
– Map URLS. Location responses now contain Google Maps URLS which enable easy navigation to the location on Google Maps.
– Location States. The additional Location States indicate whenever a listing is disabled, published or pending verification, making it easy to understand the required action for the location.
– Reopen Flag. This identifies which closed locations can be reopened and which ones cannot.
– Category Endpoint. A list of supported categories by language and country is provided.
– Attributes. There is now support for Enum and URL attributes.
