Inc.Com Contributing Editor Jeff Haden talks about making a connection with the reader and why this type of content has the power to get shared.
In creating quality shareable content, you need put to mind that your goal is to allow the reader, as an individual, to find something of themselves in what you wrote. You have to find a way to connect on a personal level, even though you’re writing hoping millions of people will read it. That whole “million” is made up of individuals.
- It could be something inspiring
- A mistake you made that they’ve also made
You have to share a little bit about yourself — you might have to be vulnerable.
People want to read something that feels like a conversation between you and the reader, then they’ll connect with you.
It won’t always work. Not everyone’s going to like what you write.
The more personal you are, the more human you are — the more connection you will make. And that’s the stuff people will want to share.
