Hiring is perhaps one of the biggest challenges for marketing leaders. Although there are many qualified candidates for certain positions, majority of entry-level marketers often do not have enough experience in business, analytics and other relevant fields of expertise in the business. At the same time, marketing leaders often have a lot of responsibility on their hands and do not have enough time to train new hires. As such, training can be a difficult time for all. Here are some ways to bridge that gap between trainors and new hires and make the process more efficient:
1. Foster a self-reliant attitude among new hires and get them to direct their learning.
A good and ambitious worker will find ways to learn more about his trade and become an expert in his chosen field. Many new hires will find the initial process confusing, so make it a point to offer some guidance. At the same time, encourage them to self-direct their learning so they can improve their skills even without constant supervision.
2. Educate new hires on the basics of setting up a marketing campaign.
Break down the process into simple steps to keep new hires on track. These simple steps include outlining your business goals, determining the best sequence for customer conversion, and lastly, always keeping the customers’ interests in mind and giving them incentives.
3. Allow new hires to practice their skills in a more hands-on way.
Sometimes, the best way to learn is to actually apply what you are learning. Give your new hires opportunities to work with you and put their skills to the test.
