Think “less is more” — simplicity, when writing good content. But how do you keep content simple? Try these four tactics and be concise:
- Abandon clichés – Overused phrases mean you’re getting lazy with your content. Lazy content equals disengaged readers.
- Check for redundancies – Plan ahead? Added bonus? End result? Suddenly exploded? Try listing commonly used redundant phrases and take them out of your writing.
- Go with descriptive words – Qualifiers and intensifiers sound cool in movies. Not so on online content. There has to be a better word to get your point across other than using “somewhat” or “extremely.”
- Don’t use passive voice – Active voice for Web content is easier to read. You’ll get to the point quicker. And you will save energy on typing.
